Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease are relatively common, especially at a young age. The course of the condition determines the estimated excess mortality. Liver diseases, such as autoimmune hepatitis, are somewhat rarer but these conditions are often insurable too. There are also gastrointestinal and liver diseases, such as celiac disease (gluten allergy), that do not entail an increased medical risk.
